Hundreds Day Homework Assignment
I am asking students to complete a homework project for hundreds day. Students should create a project to display that will go along with the theme "Hundreds of Ways to Show We Care". This is a Valentines Day/ Hundreds Day project, and it should be fun! Most of all, it should look like a first grader worked on it! Perfect is not necessary- but fun with hundreds is!
You could look on Google or Pinterest to find project ideas. Remember, projects should NOT be expensive! Please put projects on durable board such as poster board or just use the side of a big cereal box!
Examples:
*Write the word "Love" in bubble letters and fill the inside with 100 Fruit Loops. Color the base of the board and the inside of the letters before filling in.
*Draw a big heart and paper punch the edges with 100 punches. Color the heart. Tie scrap pieces of ribbon or yarn around the outside, through the paper punches.
*Make a big "Peace" symbol. Fill it in with 100 buttons or 100 peices of colored string.
*Write 10 different sayings 10 times each and display on a fun and board. Examples: You're My Friend, I Like You, Thank You for Being Kind, You Are Nice, etc.
*Create a 3D project using 100 Dixie Cups or old Crayons or Paper Clips or Push Pins!
Be creative! Use items you have at home, or purchase inexpensive items. Great items to use: M & M's, Hershey's Kisses, Ribbon, Loop Cereal, Pretzel Rods, Red Hots, Smarties, or just cut out some geometric shapes on colored paper!
Have fun! Don't procrastinate! From one parent to another, I can tell you from experience, blow drying a school project at midnight is never a fun way to spend an evening! Start bringing them in on February 1st if you would like them displayed longer. They must be to school by February 7th!

Reading / Writing
Writing: Topic Sentence with a MINIIMUM of 3 detail sentences that tell a clear beginning, middle, and end. Students should be using capital letters, punctuation, and spell word wall words correctly by this point in the school year. If they are not, they will begin to have some homework rewriting so I can read their great stories!
