March is Reading Month Update
Students Arrgh enjoying March is Reading Month! They are reading, reading, reading! Every student has reached their goal each week, and I am so proud of their efforts!
Don't forget, if you read books at home with your child, and feel they understand the book very well, they can often take an AR quiz on that book, too. You can either send in the book, or the name of the book on a note. You can check to see if your book is an AR book by going to ARbookfind.com .
Of course, we don't have to take a test on a book for it to be enjoyable or beneficial. However, many students love to take AR quizzes. I have volunteers coming in to listen to students read almost every day! We are very fortunate to have such great support for your children. Please let me know if you would like to volunteer, or if you would like to come in and read a favorite book to the class. We would love to have guest readers!
So far students have read over 150 books altogether, and totaled over 52,000 words as a class- just on AR books alone! This is fantastic! Way to go Mrs. Hawkins' Class!

Words of the week
orwI was fortunate to be one of five teachers attending the MACUL technology conference last week. This, in addition to attending the play on Friday during our literacy time, is why you have not received new words to study with your children. We are going to focus on long e sounds, spelled with ea, ee, and ey for another week. We will move on to another pattern next week. The majority of students need a little extra practice with this spelling pattern.
Math
We will have a math test on Friday of this week. Students have been focused for the past few weeks on the skills Make a Ten to Add, Adding with Sums Greater than 10, and Make a Ten to Add 3 Numbers.
I will send home some work to practice on Wednesday and Thursday night. Additionally, we are spending our math time this week reviewing these skills each day.

Raz-Kids
Individual reading cards will come home again for Raz-Kids. Many students have said that they don't have their cards. Students can use this app (free) or just go onto the site using the web. This is a great way to practice reading at home.
OSMO
Thank you to Carter, Camden, and Luke for coming to the School Board meeting this week to share our love of OSMO! They did a fantastic job representing our classroom!
