What an exciting week in first grade! We went to the Circus of the Kids, and it was amazing! What a great experience for all of us.
We started to raise butterflies. We now have caterpillars in our classroom eating away, growing fat. In about 2 weeks we will send them back to Fusiler Farms to release at their annual celebration.
We are also experimenting with bean plants. However, the first batch had to be thrown away due to moldy water! We will plant again on Monday, and send them home to plant in your home garden in a few weeks.
We will not have a spelling test next week. I will assign new words on Monday. The next test will be the first week of May.
We have started to write Research Reports in writing. Ms. Weidenbach's 4th grades joined us in the computer lab to research different animals. We will be writing a class book, and each student will bring a copy home.
As you have seen, we are beginning place value concepts in math. This is a difficult concept for first graders, but our class is really doing great! Please take time to look though papers that come home.
We will also host Lisa Bascom, VP of Brooklyn Products International, to teach us all about Junior Achievement! We are very excited to have her here with us!
We have a few classroom needs. We are really using a lot of glue sticks as we create great projects in art and science! If you could donate a few glue stick we would really appreciate it! Also, we have used up all of our Clorox Wipes. A few canisters will get us through the end of the year.
Thank you for everything you do to support our classroom!
