Grinch Day!
For the past 3 years, we have celebrated the holiday in First Grade with Grinch Day. The students dress like they are from Whoville, like The Grinch, or even his dog Max! We have had kids dress like Cindy Lou Who, The Mayor of Whoville, or like any of townspeople. Some kids just wear green. This is such a fun way to spend the day.
We have a Grinch Christmas Breakfast first thing in the morning, then we trade classes for games, crafts, Grinchy science experiments, and more before lunch. We watch the original Grinch movie, from TV, in the afternoon.
I will be contacting parents who signed up for food items this weekend. I would also like some volunteers to come in and help. The volunteers stay in our classroom during the class rotations- but that only lasts an hour of the morning activities. If you think of something Grinchy you would like to bring, just let me know. Pinterest is a fabulous resource for costume and party ideas.
If you have questions, please email or call me. This has been a great new tradition for our first graders, and I am so excited for your children to get to enjoy the 4th Annual First Grade Grinch Day, too!

Mott Hospital: Making Spirits Bright
I am overwhelmed with the work ethic, desire to help, and participation of these amazing students and their families! Students have completed 108 chores, and donated $238.25! We started picking out the presents today. They will be delivered to Mott next week. Way to go Mrs. Hawkins' class and their families. You are generous beyond measure and have surpassed anything I imagined when I asked for your help. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Reindeer in the Room: Sprinkles
Santa has sent us a Reindeer named Sprinkles for our classroom. She is watching over our class, and leaving notes for students she sees spreading kindness each day. Sometimes, she gets so excited she looses her sprinkles. We are collecting them in a jar, so she has enough magic to get back home on Christmas Eve! A few students have already gotten personal notes. She will be here until break, so I am sure she will see amazing things from all kids (probably more than once!).
Raz-Kids
Don't forget that kids can log on to Raz-Kids at home. Our classroom name is hawkinsces. They know their user name and password. You can get there on the web, or by downloading the free app.
